Day 36

Follow on Twitter @SkylyLove

I can't figure out why it has taken me so long to work with this color combination. I love it! I feel like this headband truly shows my personality. It's kind of like an outdoorsy, vintage/hippy look.

Day's 32-35 : Crazy weekend; craft fair bust

Follow on twitter @SkylyLove

Sorry for the delay in getting the pictures up of the headbands. It's was a busy weekend, and a gloomy one at that. I know some of you were interested to know how the craft fair went at Bedners Farm; needless to say it was a bust :( The weather was absolutely horrid, not to mention the "Whoopie Pie" stand that set their huge tent with walls up, right next to out table, blocking us from any potential customers. I should have taken pictures ,totally forgot. I have to say, it was a learning experience.

This super fun, colorful headband is sure to spice up the party! Day 30 of the headband challenge, tomorrow will be a month since my start!  I can't believe I've managed to make 30 different ones.  I'm a bit overwhelmed to think that I still have 70 more to go.

Day 29 - Nothing is for free

Follow on Twitter @SkylyLove

Does this headband look familiar? If it does it's because it's similar to one of my early headbands I called "Simply Skyly", pictured below.

So I decided to take my classic headband and make it a little more affordable by using chiffon instead of 100% polyester ribbon. I also switched out the rhinestone lace for birdcage veiling. I love this look and am hoping to sell a few this Saturday at my first craft fair at Bedners Farm in Boyton Beach.
I have to admit, I'm very nervous. I have no idea what to expect, so I've decided to expect nothing, that way I'm not disappointed.  It seems like all to often, people expect free handouts simply because it's "home-made".  They don't see the hard work I put into it and the many hours spent trying new colors and styles together. Not to mention supplies. It costs actual money to produce these headbands. I encourage anyone who enters a "giveaway" or receives something for free from any business or person, be thankful. That may have been free to you, but someone payed for it.

Day 28 - Ugly Hearts

Follow on twitter @SkylyLove

As I made this beautiful chiffon rose heart headband this morning, I couldn't help but think about the contrast from this gorgeous heart, to the ugly hearts of the selfish, in today's world.  Yesterday on my way to work my car over-heated. I pulled over at a rather busy intersection, in the heart of Davie. There was a nice little field that gave me plenty of room to pull over safely a good 10-15 feet away from the main roads.  Sky was fussing because she thought we were at our destination and was confused as to why I didn't jump out right away and get her out of her seat.  Stressed, I lifted Sky out of the car and went to investigate under the hood.  To my complete, grotesque astonishment, no one even asked if I need help.  A cop even passed by and didn't bother to check on us.  Luckily I didn't need help, my mom was on her way to pick up Sky; and I had a gallon of water in my front seat just waiting for my car to cool to be poured into the engine. It just would have been nice if someone would have least asked if we needed help. That's all.

Day 26 & 27 - Busy, Busy, Busy!

Yesterday was such a busy day I had absolutely no time to post a headband, I barely had time to make it. So I'm posting yesterday's and today's headbands in this same blog post. I really wish that I had time to write about each one of these headbands today but as you know, I work outside of my home on Monday's. Another busy day. I am looking forward to the craft fair at Bedners Farm this coming Saturday and am hoping I can get everything done that I want to. Busy, busy, busy... I love it!

Day 25 - Getting more personal

Follow on twitter @SkylyLove

I haven't made a "froofy-girly" headband like this in a while so I thought it was time.  I'm thinking I'm going to start something new and talk about how each headband pertains to what's going on in my life, or my head. I want to be a real person to you all, not just another business.
Starting with this really girly headband, which if you know me I'm not a girly-girl by any means. Surprising right? You would think someone in the headband business would be.
Some of you may not know this, but Skyly Love is my daughters name. A lot of people ask us how we came up with it: it wasn't easy.  My husband and I both loved the name Sky but had a hard time coming up with a middle name that we really liked for a one-syllable first name. "Sky Love" just didn't seem right. So we added the "ly" for a better flow. Now why "Love"? It's the first "Fruit of the Spirit" from
Galatians 22-23. We may start a trend where each of our children will have a fruit of the Spirit for their middle name. Not to say that one of our kids will have "Self-Control" as their middle name, but maybe "Bhagyanandana" which is Sanskrit for self control. Wait, was that a bad example? Ummm... maybe this isn't going to work out after all!
Ha! Oh well.
Back to this headband. It's really girly, right? I realized the other day how much of a girly-girl Sky is. I finally got my 14 month old a pair of shoes (yeah I'm a bad parent, whatever).  I just don't see why kids need shoes, but I guess it's socially acceptable and blah blah blah blah blah. Honestly I was just sick of the looks I got any time I put her down in public. There feet! Their supposed to be dirty!  I apologize for my little rampage. The sandals I bought for her are so cute. When I got home with them and she saw them, her face lit up. She sat right on my lap and offered me her cute little feet. I put them on, put her down and marveled as she paced the floor, back and forth, starring at her new shoes. As tom-boyish as I've always been, I never imagined enjoying my little girl in all her girly-glory as much as I am.
